Edel has been working as an independent consultant in advocacy public relations for over 20 years, providing media and communications support and advice to a wide range of non-profit and campaigning organisations and groups.
These organisations and groups have one thing in common – they are working to make Ireland a more equal, tolerant and safe society. They are striving to address inequality and pursue rights across areas such as gender, income, opportunity, housing, participation, disability and education.
Edel specialises in media relations, strategic communications planning, writing as well as media and advocacy training. Edel studied communications and trained as a journalist initially. She also completed a Master’s Degree in International Human Rights Law at the Irish Centre for Human Rights, NUI Galway. Edel spent five years as a member of the Compliance Committee of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.
