Domestic abuse is the shadow pandemic
Ireland had been slowly emerging from the lockdown phases of Covid-19. But, there is no certain future path forward. We have already seen a return to restrictions in certain locations and in many of our day-to-day activities.
Living with Covid-19 is our new normal.
For most of us, this means continuing to stay in our homes and limiting our social contacts.
For women and children living with an abuser, this means the dread and dangerous risk of many more months of threats, coercion, isolation, stress, abuse and violence.
Domestic abuse is the shadow pandemic that is not going to go away.
