Ethos/Main Aims of Organisation:
Aoibhneas Women’s Refuge is committed to providing secure crisis accommodation, relevant information, emotional support, Counselling and an outreach service to all women and children residents and callers to the helpline as required. The refuge promotes a philosophy of empowerment, unconditional respect, sensitivity and strict confidentiality viv a vis both residents and callers at all times.
The refuge houses 10 purpose-built family units with their own kitchen and bathroom; a children’s playroom; a large kitchen and dining area and a communal lounge.
Services currently available at the refuge include the provision of emotional support; advice on practical considerations such as legal, housing and welfare issues; referrals to outside agencies; and Counselling from qualified and accredited practitioners. Aoibhneas also employs an outreach worker to provide support to women and their children once they move on from refuge.

Sonas offers support, refuge and housing to women and children made homeless because of domestic and gender-based violence.
The Sonas mission statement is:
….to provide high quality housing support and refuge services to women and children affected by domestic violence, empowering them to regain control over all aspects of their lives.
