Free iPhone Information App for Everyone

SAFE Ireland has taken a lead in providing up to date Safety information about domestic violence for everyone in Ireland.

Recent research has highlighted the important role of friends and families and a range of professionals in giving information about support services to victims of domestic violence.

We are therefore developing this App for Everyone, we want people to be aware of how they can support someone they do, ways to recognise abuse and ways to maximise the safety of the victim, her children and themselves. We believe that by equipping the Irish population with this important information that we will increase the likelihood of victims of domestic violence being aware of the specialist supports that are freely available across Ireland.

This free App is available to download at the iPhone App Store now.

7,512 women, 2,462 children supported and over 34,000 helpline calls to domestic violence services in 2009. “Ireland is now gambling recklessly with the lives of women and children seeking support for domestic violence”, said SAFE Ireland, the representative network of domestic violence services. It announced its latest stark statistics today, half way through the international 16 days of action against violence against women.

New Campaign calls on Men to Help End Violence Against Women

Men are being asked to join with women and speak out against violence against women in a new national campaign that was launched today.
